READ TO THE CHILD TWICE DAILY
Studies show that Toddlers whose parents read a story to daily out perform others. This is because early reading helps the child to quickly recognize some sound and this hasten his rate of learning and vocabulary.
Just start by reading to the child at least 10 minutes daily and when you do it, read slowly and if possible try to make each sentence sweet. This will go a long way towards helping the child to form a mental image of what is been read to him. Once he starts liking it further it more by asking him questions on what he learned from your story.
TEACH HIM HOW TO RECITE THE ALPHABET WITH A SONG.
The next thing you should do is to start teaching him how to read ABCs with a song, if you cannot formulate a song buy an educational children’s cds and use it in teaching him this use of song. This will help him to appreciate and understand this letters, thereby making learning fun and exciting.
MATCH THE SONG WITH ALPAHABET WRITTEN ON CARD BOARDS.
Once he starts singing this alphabet, move up one step and start teaching him how to recognize letters. This does not require a teacher or too much teaching material, but just a magic maker and rectangular cut cardboards with letters of the alphabets written on it. Start by matching the alphabet song he learnt with this alphabet written on those cardboards. Then, if he starts to recognize it, then move to the next stage by rearranging this cards and asking him to pick out each one from the pack as he sings his sweet alphabet songs.
TEACH HIM HOW TO ARRANGE THE ALPHABET
The next thing you should do is to help your Toddler in learning how to arrange the alphabets in correct other. Disarrange the letters and ask him to arrange it. Although, this is one of the toughest part of teaching the kid, just exercise some real patience and do not be angry if the child makes mistakes but always praise him and give him small gifts in his victories this will make him to appreciate what you are teaching and also unite the bond between you two.
Finally, use the above outlined methods in teaching him numbers and please always be patience and cheerful. You do not have to put all your time to it just fifteen to thirty minutes daily. And when doing so do not be distracted or allow long distraction between both of you.
